For many years teaching was my passion; I taught for 3 years in Nash County, 31 years in Franklin County, a semester in Wake County, and 6 years in Grayson County, Va. After the birth of my first grandchild and the upcoming birth of my second, I decided it was time to retire for the 3rd and final time.
My son stressed how important it was for me to find something to do that I was really passionate about. He gave me a basic wood-burning tool for Christmas 2015 and I began to play with it in February 2016. I discovered that I really enjoyed the artistry of it, and with practice I have continued to improve my craft. I have become comfortable enough with my skill that I have taken on "commissions" to replicate photographs of different subjects, mostly people and horses. |
